Oxford Well Woman

Oxford Well Woman works from its Oxford treatment studio in Wolvercote, providing women’s health massage, reflexology, ScarWork, birth partner massage and birth doula support. The appointment list includes therapeutic massage, Maya Abdominal Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Post Natal Massage, Reflexology, Buccal Facial Massage, Scar Work and one to one partner birth massage classes.

Therapeutic massage is offered for stiffness, soreness, unresolved tension, desk work, old injuries and the physical effects of daily stress. Maya Abdominal Massage is available as initial and subsequent appointments, and the practitioner’s training includes Arvigo Abdominal Therapy. Reflexology, Buccal Facial Massage and ScarWork are also provided as hands-on treatments.

Pregnancy and postnatal care are a clear part of the practice. Pregnancy Massage and Post Natal Massage are available, and the practitioner has trained in Well Mother Pregnancy Massage. The approach is informed by work with women through fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, motherhood and menopause, as well as training in women’s health bodywork.

Birth support includes Birth Partner Massage and birth doula services. The doula service can include antenatal meetings, ongoing phone support, an on-call period before birth, continuous birth support, support after the baby is born and postnatal visits. Support may include massage during labour, help through transitions such as arriving at hospital or welcoming midwives into the home, communication around birth preferences, position suggestions, breathwork, affirmations and preparation for the postnatal period.

The practitioner’s training began with the Jing Medical Massage series for treating pain and later expanded into women’s health techniques, pregnancy massage, abdominal therapy, doula training with Michel Odent and coaching with One of Many and The Red School. Care is delivered in person at the treatment room, with doula support described for home birth and hospital birth settings.
