Bark and Ride Veterinary Physiotherapy

Bark and Ride Veterinary Physiotherapy provides pet physiotherapy and animal rehabilitation in Newton Abbot. Appointments are offered at the purpose-built clinic at Forches Cross, near the A38, with home visit canine appointments also available.

The service covers dog, cat and horse physiotherapy, including canine initial assessments and follow-up appointments, equine initial assessments and follow-up appointments, and canine home visit initial and follow-up appointments. Clinical areas include injury prevention, joint and spinal condition management, movement-related problems, pain management, performance optimisation, and rehabilitation after illness, injury or surgery.

Assessments can include health history, static assessment, dynamic assessment, limb range of motion, full body palpation, goal setting, clinically indicated treatment and a vet report. Follow-up appointments review progress and previously identified deficits. Treatment may include soft tissue work, manual therapy, electrotherapy, movement and exercise prescription, tailored advice and education.

Kamil Southwick (Simpson) has BSc(hons), PGDip, HCPC, MCSP and ACPAT A credentials, with ACPAT and RAMP registration named by the practice. The service also includes telephone consultations, insurance reports, additional post-treatment reports, hire of equipment and rider analysis. Human physiotherapy assessments are also described as home-based appointments.

New animal initial assessments require veterinary consent before assessment or treatment. Home visits are generally provided within around 15 miles of the clinic, with an additional travel fee possible outside that area.
