Connective Therapy
About Connective Therapy
Connective Therapy provides clinical soft tissue therapy, sports massage and rehabilitation for minor, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and pain. Care covers workplace and sport-related injuries, as well as strains from everyday life, using soft tissue techniques with massage, postural assessment and exercise.
Services include sports massage, dry needling, dry cupping, soft tissue therapy, kinesiology taping, exercise and rehabilitation, pregnancy rehabilitation and massage, and shockwave therapy. Shockwave therapy is available only at a separate clinic. Sports massage is used as a deep-tissue massage therapy aimed at reducing tension in muscle tissue.
Dry needling is used for muscle tissue and trigger points as part of broader physical therapy for injury treatment. It can be used for musculoskeletal issues including acute and chronic injuries, headaches, neck and back pain, tendinitis, muscle spasms, sciatica, hip and knee pain, muscle strains, fibromyalgia, elbow pain, PFPS, Runner's Knee, and overuse injuries.
Dry cupping uses vacuum cups over areas of soft tissue to lift the tissue and create an upward stretch in the muscle and fascia. Cups may be left in a static position or used dynamically for a deep tissue massage effect. Soft tissue therapy is provided through a person-centred approach to assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, including techniques such as Muscle Energy Techniques, Soft Tissue Release, Neuromuscular Technique or Trigger Point Therapy, and Myofascial Techniques.
Kinesiology taping is used to support and stabilise an injured area while allowing connective tissue to move with the body. Exercise and rehabilitation includes exercise prescription to strengthen muscles or increase range of movement as part of rehabilitation. Pregnancy rehabilitation and massage covers injury treatment, rehabilitation and massage during pregnancy.
