East Shore Podiatry

East Shore Podiatry is in Seaham and operates from one clinic. It provides podiatry and chiropody for foot conditions, routine foot care, preventative foot care, pain and discomfort affecting the feet, and routine check-ups.

The clinic offers nail cutting, hard skin removal, treatment for cracked heels, corns and callus, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot care, verruca treatment, fungal nail treatment, thickened toenails, wound care and nail surgery. Routine podiatry includes nail cutting and filing, removal of calluses or corns, thickened nail reduction and treatment for dry or cracked skin.

Biomechanics appointments cover foot pain, gait analysis and insole therapy. First appointments and returning patient appointments are available for routine podiatry, including nail polish removal or gel polish removal where relevant.

Nail surgery assessment is used to evaluate whether surgical intervention may be needed for nail conditions such as ingrown toenails, fungal infections or nail deformities. Fungal nail care may include topical antifungal treatments, nail debridement, assessment for surgical removal in persistent or severe cases, and advice on nail care and prevention of future infections.

Verruca care begins with examination of the verruca, including its size, location and any associated discomfort, before the podiatrist considers a suitable treatment approach. The clinic also provides reassessment of feet and nails at nail care and routine podiatry appointments, with any changes since the last visit discussed during the appointment.

East Shore Podiatry was opened in 2024 by Lisa Smith and Leigh Enguita, who both graduated from New College Durham with an honours degree in Podiatry. The podiatrists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and are members of the Royal College of Podiatry. The clinic says it follows guidelines on infection control, decontamination procedures, patient confidentiality and patient wellbeing.
