Matrix Eye Clinic

Cataract surgery is provided for patients with cataracts, with assessment, diagnostics and surgical treatment on site. Matrix Eye Clinic is a private ophthalmology clinic in Swindon. It also diagnoses and treats glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, wet eyes and retinal conditions.

Cataract care is supported by consulting rooms, diagnostic rooms and a purpose-built surgical eyecare operating theatre. The clinic also offers retina screening, hydroxychloroquine monitoring and support for macular and retina problems. This includes Advanced Macular Degeneration.

The clinical team includes ophthalmologists, an optometrist, theatre nursing staff and pre and post-operation nursing support. The doctors' interests include cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, glaucoma management and dry eye. They also include nutritional ophthalmology, ocular rosacea, ocular discomfort and corneo-refractive surgery.

The ophthalmologist profiles also state training in vitreo-retinal and oculoplastic surgery. The optometry service includes medical contact lenses, including scleral and other complex contact lenses. These are used for visual and therapeutic rehabilitation in ocular disease.

Nutritional ophthalmology at the clinic considers the relationship between ocular surface and gut microbiomes. It also considers blood sugars and inflammation in relation to ocular function.

Access is planned for wheelchair users across the building. There is a patient lift, adjusted doors and free parking at the clinic. Patients can be dropped three metres from the reception entrance. Matrix Eye Clinic achieved Care Quality Commission certification in February 2022. It works with insurance providers including Bupa, Saga, Vitality and AXA.
