Mearns Chiropractic

Mearns Chiropractic is for people seeking chiropractic assessment and treatment for back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain and other musculoskeletal problems in Newton Mearns.

The conditions treated include general, acute and chronic back pain, neck pain, cervicogenic headache, migraine, generalised pain, knee and hip osteoarthritic pain, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder conditions, frozen shoulder, elbow pain and tennis elbow related to underlying neck and back issues.

Care is provided by Dr R. Lyn Farnholz, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. (Chiropractic), Doctor of Chiropractic. She graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, Portsmouth University, in 2001, has worked in Scotland for more than 20 years, and is statutorily regulated by the General Chiropractic Council.

Her chiropractic interests include sports, golf, rehabilitation, maternal and paediatric chiropractic, nutrition, long-standing joint, muscle and pain conditions, joint rehabilitation, extremities, workplace health, ergonomics and Thompson Technique.

An initial assessment includes a detailed case history and physical examination, used to form a working diagnosis and a suitable course of treatment. Before treatment starts, the chiropractor explains the findings, proposed care plan, benefits, possible risks and side effects, and treatment only begins with consent. Patients are treated in a private room, are not asked to remove clothing, and may bring a relative or friend. A chaperone may also be present.

If chiropractic treatment is not considered suitable, or if there are concerns about other health conditions, referral to another healthcare professional, such as a GP, may be discussed.
