Melissa Lodge Osteopathy

Melissa Lodge Osteopathy treats pregnant women, new mums, babies, children and adults with osteopathic care. Appointment types include Initial Osteopathic Consultation, Standard Osteopathic Consultation, Mother & Baby Package and Osteopathic Home Visit. The main service areas are pregnancy care, postnatal care for new mums, babies and children's osteopathy, adult osteopathy, and home visits for babies and children.

Care includes people who have been referred by their doctor to complement medical treatment, as well as people attending without referral. Pregnancy and postnatal work covers physical stresses and strains of pregnancy, new mums' spinal care, low back pain and sciatica in pregnancy, and buttock pain in late pregnancy. Paediatric care includes babies and children, including work related to babies' developmental milestones.

During consultations, Melissa may observe posture, ask the patient to perform movements and assess gait if needed. She may ask the patient to undress so the affected area can be seen, with loose or stretchy clothing an option if preferred. Her osteopathic assessment focuses on the body's framework, including joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles.

Melissa Lodge is a registered osteopath with over 20 years' experience. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Osteopathy with Distinction from the British School of Osteopathy, a Diploma in Classical Osteopathy and an MSc in Paediatric Osteopathy. She is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy and an alumni member of the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy.

Her paediatric training included two years working at the Osteopathic Centre for Children, and experience with premature babies in neonatal intensive care and children's ward settings as part of the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy's Flying Osteopaths team. Exercise and rehabilitation are part of her approach, alongside healthy movement in daily life.

In-person care is provided at the clinic, and osteopathic home visits are available for babies and children. Osteopathy is recognised by most private health care providers; patients using insurance are expected to pay for each visit and reclaim with a receipt.
