Western medical acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles. It is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine.

Before recommending an acupuncture treatment plan, the practitioner carries out an assessment of the patient’s medication and medical history. The clinic notes that acupuncture treatment is not provided in a medical capacity and that the practitioner is not indemnified to make a diagnosis. If a medical need is identified, the patient is redirected to their own GP for further medical care.
