Prime Sports Physiotherapy

The physiotherapists at Prime Sports Physiotherapy provide musculoskeletal, sports, respiratory and women’s health physiotherapy for adults, children and young people. The practice treats sports injuries, back pain and sciatica, neck and shoulder pain, joint conditions and arthritis, tendon and soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains and general aches, pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, and breathing or respiratory issues.

Care includes musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessments and follow-up appointments, physiotherapy before and after orthopaedic surgery, acupuncture assessment with physiotherapy treatment, manual therapy and physio soft tissue treatment. Shockwave therapy is available as an assessment and first treatment, follow-up treatment, or as part of a physiotherapy package.

Youth and paediatric physiotherapy are part of the service, with appointments for children aged 5 to 11 and young people aged 12 to 17. There are also specific physiotherapy appointments for George Watson’s College pupils and Currie Rugby Youth section members.

Women’s health physiotherapy includes assessment appointments, follow-up appointments, New Mum MOT appointments, and antenatal or pregnancy physiotherapy. Respiratory physiotherapy is provided through assessment and follow-up appointments, with a respiratory physiotherapy home visit option.

The wider clinical service includes sports massage, therapeutic massage, runners massage, back, neck and shoulder massage, performance testing and profiling, physio-led strength and conditioning, and 1:1 Pilates physiotherapy. The practice also provides classes in Pilates, yoga, barre, men’s and women’s health, and strength and conditioning.

Prime Sports Physiotherapy provides appointments in Balerno and Edinburgh, including David Lloyd Newhaven and George Watson’s College Pupil Clinic. Home visit physiotherapy appointments are available within stated local distances from the practice. Appointment pathways are available for self-funding patients and for patients using named insurers including AXA, Aviva, BUPA, Healix, WPA and Vitality.
