Southside Medical

Southside Medical has one site in Glasgow. Within the practice, Aurora Women's Medical provides private women's health consultations, with a focus on menopause and perimenopause care, menstrual health and contraception.

Care includes women's health appointments, initial menopause appointments and menopause follow-up appointments. Women's health consultations can cover contraception, menstrual health and general wellbeing. Menopause appointments cover symptoms of perimenopause or menopause, medical background, lifestyle measures, treatment options and the possible role of hormone replacement therapy.

Aurora Women's Medical provides menopause assessment, treatment and ongoing care. It offers HRT prescribing and management, and may prescribe other medicines, including antibiotics, where clinically appropriate. Private prescriptions can be provided at the clinician's discretion.

Blood tests and other investigations can be arranged where clinically appropriate, with results reviewed and explained as part of follow-up care. External test results may be accepted at the clinician's discretion. Patients may be advised or referred to NHS services or private specialists where necessary, and specialist review is recommended for certain conditions such as premature ovarian insufficiency.

Appointments are intended to address one primary concern per consultation. Young people under 16 may be seen when accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, with independent assessment in certain circumstances and in line with professional guidance.

Aurora Women's Medical is not an urgent or emergency care service and does not replace an NHS GP. Patients are expected to remain registered with an NHS GP for ongoing and urgent care.
