Staple Hill Osteopathy

Staple Hill Osteopathy provides osteopathy for people seeking help with pain, joint mobility problems and muscle tension. Julia Currington uses an in-depth first consultation and assessment to plan treatment, with osteopathic techniques selected for the individual session.

Treatment options include joint mobilisation or articulation, cranial osteopathy, acupuncture, sports massage and K-Tape. Joint mobilisation is used for pain or reduced mobility in a specific joint. Cranial osteopathy uses gentle work around the head, neck, shoulders, spine and sacral area, and Julia states that it can be used from birth to older age.

Acupuncture, also called dry needling or Western acupuncture, is used for muscle pain and mobility, with a sterile needle placed in a trigger point for several minutes. Sports massage covers muscle tension linked with poor posture, sport, injuries and mental stress, using deep tissue, neuromuscular and muscle energy techniques. K-Tape may be used between sessions for support with injuries such as plantar fasciitis, meniscal tears and de Quervain's tendonitis.

Julia also covers nutritional approaches, exercise and movement advice, and stress management. This can include looking at diet triggers for inflammation, using a food diary to identify patterns, discussing nutritional deficiencies linked with bone health, digestive issues or weight management, and sharing breathing or meditation exercises where needed.

Julia has a Master's in Osteopathy from the University College of Osteopathy, formerly the British School of Osteopathy. She has over 18 years of experience in healthcare and wellbeing, further training with the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy, accreditation with the General Osteopathic Council, and insurance with Balens Ltd.
