Step Forward Podiatry

Step Forward Podiatry is in Broxburn and operates from one clinic. The practice provides podiatry care for foot and nail problems, including routine footcare, diabetic assessment, verruca treatment, ingrown toenails, heel pain, bunions and nail surgery.

Care is provided by Denise Baynham MRCPod D.Pod.M BSc, an HCPC registered podiatrist and member of the Royal Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. She has over 30 years of experience, including 20 years in the NHS in West Lothian and 10 years in private practice in the Broxburn area.

Routine footcare covers corns, calluses, fungal nails, thickened nails, discoloured nails, ingrowing toenails and injuries. New patient appointments include assessment and diagnosis, discussion of treatment options and a treatment plan agreed with you.

The clinic also provides diabetic screening, diabetic footcare treatments, diabetic healthcare advice and footwear advice. Verruca consultations include a medical history and vascular assessment, followed by advice on the different treatment options available. Nail surgery is considered after a full medical history and vascular assessment, and is carried out under local anaesthetic where appropriate.

Further care includes dressing and wound care, advice on chilblains, holiday feet and general footcare, plus products such as silicone gel products, creams and simple insoles. Denise also states that she works with other healthcare professionals, including NHS services and GPs, and can recommend specialist products to support a treatment plan.

New patients are asked to complete a medical questionnaire before attending. The clinic follows Royal Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists guidance on sterilising instruments and using disposable items.
