Step Podiatry is for people who need private podiatry and chiropody care for foot and lower limb problems in Cardiff, either at the clinic or through its home visit service. The HCPC registered podiatrists assess and treat a range of foot related conditions, injuries and infections, including hard skin, corns, callus, ingrowing toenails, verrucae, sweaty feet, blisters, bunions, athlete's foot, hammer toes, foot infections, heel pain, fungal nails and cracked heels.

Care includes podiatry initial assessment, routine podiatry and chiropody appointments, nail cutting, follow up care and home visit appointments. New patients are asked to book an initial assessment, which may include checks of footwear, foot shape, posture, blood flow using Doppler ultrasound and a short sensory nerve test, followed by treatment where appropriate.

The clinic provides biomechanical assessment and biomechanical re-assessment for foot pain and lower limb function. The team assesses possible causes of pain and offers management strategies and treatment. Step Podiatry also supports people with sports injuries and diabetes related foot pain.

Diabetic foot care includes an annual diabetic foot check, with assessment of blood supply, neurological status, lifestyle risks, foot shape and footwear. The podiatrists give advice, practical strategies and recommendations based on the findings. The team's background and interests include high risk diabetic foot care and elderly care.

Minor procedures include nail surgery for one nail or two nails, carried out under local anaesthetic, with removal of all or part of the nail and application of a chemical to reduce regrowth. Verruca care includes assessment, risk assessment and treatment options where suitable, including verruca needling as a bookable service.

The clinic is on the ground floor and has free parking. Home visits are offered in the local area, including appointments on the outskirts of the CF3 postcode area, and home visit appointments can include fingernails. Patients can attend without a GP referral.
