The Doctor's Room - Private GP services

The Doctor's Room is based at Rivers Hospital in Sawbridgeworth and provides private GP care for new health concerns, ongoing care and follow-up reviews. Consultations are available face to face, by telephone or by video, and the service also includes repeat prescriptions and home visits.

GP consultations can include discussion of symptoms, health goals and next steps, with blood tests, scans, referrals or follow-up care arranged if needed. Patients can see the same clinician again if they book with the same doctor, as that clinician will have their notes.

Health check options include the Essential Health Check and Health Check Plus, with Male Plus and Female Plus screening options included in the health screening assessment. Assessments cover medical background, medication, allergies, family history, lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol, diet, exercise, stress and sleep, and body measurements including oxygen levels, pulse, blood pressure, height, weight and BMI. Screening listed includes cardiovascular risk calculation, cardiac, respiratory and abdominal examination, blood tests for full blood count, kidney function, liver function, diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid function, iron stores and vitamin D, with ECG, urine analysis and bowel cancer FIT testing also listed.

Additional tests that can be discussed include testosterone, female hormone profile, vitamin B12 and folate, ovarian cancer marker, and cervical cancer smear with combined cytology and HPV testing. Blood Tests and Scans are available with or without a GP consultation, and cover blood testing and medical imaging.

The Skin Clinic covers acne, eczema, psoriasis, mole checks and other skin conditions, led by a GP with specialist dermatology training. The Women's Health Menopause Clinic provides care for contraception, screening and menopause support, led by female GPs. Lifestyle consultations can also be organised where appropriate.

For emergency care, patients are directed to 999 or the nearest A&E department.
