Julian Hearne provides osteopathic care in Reading for people across different stages of life, including newborns, older adults, expectant mothers and sports people, where osteopathy is appropriate after assessment.

Treatment may include massage, gentle cranial and visceral work, joint articulation and mobilisation. Julian may also discuss exercises to help with posture and movement at work and in everyday life.

Before treatment, the practice carries out a full medical assessment. This includes taking time to listen, asking about your medical history and day-to-day routine, and assessing posture and movement. Julian may feel your pulse, check reflexes, look for sensitive or tight areas, and consider how an area moves and what causes pain.

If further investigation is needed, the practice may refer you for clinical tests such as x-rays. If osteopathy is not appropriate for you, Julian may refer you to your GP or to a specialist such as an orthopaedic surgeon.

Osteopathy is a regulated profession. Osteopaths must register with the General Osteopathic Council by law, and training includes a four to five year undergraduate degree with emphasis on anatomy, musculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic techniques.
