About Tri Osteopathy
Emma Thompson provides osteopathy at Tri Osteopathy in Swadlincote. Her care covers the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal and related disorders, without drugs or surgery. Common reasons for treatment include back and neck pain, postural problems, sporting injuries, muscle and joint deterioration, restricted mobility and occupational ill-health.
First appointments include a case history, questions about symptoms, lifestyle and diet, observation of simple movements and examination using palpation. Osteopathic care may include mobilising and manipulative techniques, with guidance on diet and exercise. If osteopathic treatment is not considered suitable, patients are advised on seeking further care, including referral to a GP where needed.
The appointment options include first appointments, follow-up appointments, returning patient appointments and cranial osteopathy appointments. Tri Osteopathy also offers baby and child appointments, including paediatric initial and follow-up home visit appointments.
For babies and children, care includes cranial osteopathy. This is a gentle, non-invasive manual approach involving the head, spine and body tissues. The baby osteopathy information covers unsettled babies, discomfort when settling, trouble passing wind, retained moulding after birth, recurrent ear infections, glue ear, mouth breathing and sleep difficulties.
Home visits are available on request, with added charges. Most patients can self refer, so a GP referral is not necessary. Osteopathy is regulated by the General Osteopathic Council, and the title osteopath is protected by law in the UK.
