AS Sports Therapy

AS Sports Therapy works from one site in Clevedon, providing sports therapy and massage-based treatments in a gym setting. Care is focused on injury assessment and treatment, sports massage, myofascial dry cupping, pregnancy massage and manual lymphatic drainage.

Sports therapy appointments include assessment of an injury and hands-on treatment. Treatment may include sports massage, mobilisations, k-taping, myofascial dry cupping and exercise rehabilitation, with follow-up appointments used to reassess the injury and continue treatment.

Sports massage is available for smaller or more specific areas, larger areas, or multiple areas. The service is used for muscle tightness and tension. Myofascial dry cupping is also offered, using plastic cups and a hand-held vacuum pump to create suction on the skin and underlying soft tissue.

Pregnancy massage is available for mums-to-be, with options for back and shoulders, limbs, or whole body massage. It is not suitable for pregnancies deemed medically high risk, including a history of quick births, high blood pressure or pre-eclampsia.

Manual lymphatic drainage uses a light rhythmic skin pumping action to increase lymph flow and support the lymphatic system in waste product removal. It is offered for areas including water retention, lipoedema, menopause symptoms and fibromyalgia, although several conditions may make treatment unsafe, and some medical histories may require further information or GP consent.

The treatment room is accessed by a flight of stairs, so disabled access is limited. The clinic notes that appointments take place in a gym environment, so background noise may still be present during treatments.
