Premium membership

Pay a monthly fee per listed clinician and your booking commission halves, from 20% to 10%, while your clinicians rank higher in search. Optional, monthly, and you can cancel any time.

Listing on Quokka is free, and always has been. When a patient books and pays through your listing, we take a share of that booking and the rest goes straight to your own Stripe account.

Premium membership halves that share. You pay a monthly fee for each clinician you have listed, and in return your commission drops from 20% to 10% on every booking, and your clinicians are placed above other practices when a patient is choosing between you.

What it costs

£10 per listed clinician, per month.

A clinician counts if they are switched on and have a specialty set: in other words, if a patient can actually find and book them. Clinicians still waiting for a specialty, or in a category we do not yet list, are not billed for.

Your portal shows the exact figure before you commit, using your real clinician count. Two listed clinicians is £20 a month; six is £60.

Tip

The membership pays for itself once your practice takes about £100 of Quokka bookings per clinician per month: roughly one appointment. Below that, staying on standard is cheaper, and we would rather you did.

What you get

Half the commission. 10% instead of 20% on every booking, starting from your next one. The change is immediate: there is nothing to claim back and no minimum term.

Higher placement. When several practices could see a patient, yours is shown first.

What premium does not do is jump the queue on availability. Search is ordered by how soon a patient can actually be seen, and premium never moves you above a practice that can see them sooner. It decides the order among practices with equally soon availability. We are not willing to show a patient a later appointment because someone paid us to, and you would not want to buy that either.

Note

Because placement is paid for, your listing carries a small Sponsored label and the results page says that sponsored practices pay for higher placement. That is a legal requirement and we think it is the right thing regardless: patients should know what they are looking at.

Upgrade

Upgrading to premium, start to finish · 0:27
  1. Open Invoices in your portal and choose the Payment settings tab.
  2. Find the Membership panel. It shows your current plan, how many clinicians you have listed, and what premium would cost you.
  3. Click Upgrade to premium. You will be taken to Stripe to enter a card.
  4. Once the payment goes through you are returned to your portal, and the panel switches to Premium within a few seconds.

You are billed immediately for the first month, then on the same date each month.

Note

If the panel says you have no listed clinicians, the Upgrade button stays disabled: there is nothing to bill for yet. Add a clinician and give them a specialty first, and the panel will update.

Change your card, see invoices, or cancel

Click Manage billing in the same panel. That opens your billing page at Stripe, where you can update the card, download every invoice, and cancel.

Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for. After that your commission returns to 20% and your placement returns to standard. Nothing else about your listing changes: your clinicians, availability and bookings are untouched.

Questions we get asked

Does the number of clinicians I am billed for change if my team changes? Your monthly charge is fixed for the period you have paid for. If you add clinicians mid-month you are not charged extra until the next renewal.

What if a payment fails? Your practice goes back to standard rates and standard placement until the payment succeeds, and Stripe will email you. Update your card under Manage billing and premium resumes. Nothing about your listing or your existing bookings is affected.

Can I be premium without connecting a booking system? You can pay for it, but you would get very little for it. Placement only helps where a patient can see your availability, and the commission saving only applies to bookings taken through Quokka. If you are not connected yet, connect your system first: that is free and it is what actually brings you bookings.

Do I pay commission on patients who found me elsewhere? No. We only take a share of bookings made through your Quokka listing.
